This song is about the search for other life in the universe and would we ever get the chance to go there and say hello. One of the problems we face is the time taken to travel the vast distances. If we ever picked up a signal then by the time we got there would they even still exist? The universe will most likely end up a dark, cold place. And dead.
On a happier note, as this is technically a prog album, this track includes the obligatory 5 minute intergalactic space voyage in the shape of part 2 'The Fold'.
Many thanks to Dave O'Brien for his contributions to this track. His addition of a few counter melodies, harmonisations and a totally wizard synthesizer solo at 5:50 really lifted this track to a new level.
Wig out space cadets.
